Large Tech Companies To Set Up Local Offices By 2022 In Russia

Russia is a strong government and now it wants complete control over Tiktok, Meta and other large tech companies. Russia is taking its requests for foreign tech businesses to set up offices within its borders seriously. Want to know more than stay connected with us and we will keep you updated with all the latest updates.

13 International Organisations Sent An Official Order

According to Reuters, the country’s telecom regulator, Roskomnadzor, has asked 13 international corporations, largely from the United States, to establish formal Russian presences by 2022 in order to comply with a rule that took effect on July 1st. Apple, Google, Meta (Facebook), Telegram, TikTok, and Twitter are among the companies on the list. However, some of the businesses already have locations, and it’s unclear what defines an official presence. There are mixed reactions coming related to this decision.

Russia Wants More Control Over The Large Tech Companies

It has previously clashed with Apple, including a fine for allegedly abusing App Store dominance. This law might give officials additional clout. The measure could also aid Russia in pressuring corporations to remove anything that the Kremlin finds offensive. Such as social media posts supporting political opponents of Putin’s rule. The government wants to take complete control over the companies.

The Announcement Complicates An Already Tight Situation

Russia is a huge market that some businesses can’t afford to ignore, but complying with the request could open the door to censorship and other human rights violations. Companies may soon be forced to make difficult decisions, regardless of the outcome.

Everyone has eyes now on the country. Let us see what turn will the decision take and how much will it effect the rule of the present goverment. The experts are expecting about the decision to be a beneficial one for the future growth.
