Netflix confirms the Bridgerton spin-off series based on Queen Charlotte’s origins.

Netflix approved of a new series whose writer is Shonda Rhimes. They will also executive produce the program alongside Betsy Beers and Tom Verica.

According to the disclosed data, the series is still the most-watched Netflix Original program as of September 2021. The first season, which aired to widespread acclaim in December of last year, focused on the relationship. It highlights the marriage of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest Bridgerton daughter, and Simon Bassett, Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page).

Golda Rosheuvel played Queen Charlotte. Ruth Gemmell played Violet Bridgerton, and Adjoa Andoh played Lady Danbury.

In addition, Netflix has revealed that Jess Brownell will serve as showrunner for Seasons 3 and 4 of Bridgerton. It will be succeeding Chris Van Dusen, who is currently working on the second season.

Netflix renewed this new spin-mothership off’s program for a fourth season.

The episode will serve as a prequel, rewinding the clock to illustrate how Queen Charlotte became the series’ most recognizable figure.

Netflix’s Bela Bajaria (president of global TV) said the following about the upcoming spin-off alongside the first announcement of the spin-off:

Thanks to an increased relationship with Netflix, new Bridgerton projects are in the works, in addition to Queen Charlotte. Apart from the core series and this new spin-off, Netflix announced virtual reality experiences, a video game, and other in-person events.

It will tell the origin tale of Queen Charlotte, who Golda Rosheuvel portrayed in the original run of the series. Netflix will portray the life of young Charlotte, with the narrative centered on her “ascension and love life.” This will include Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury’s stories too.

When can you expect ‘Bridgerton’ spin-off on Netflix?

The series will act as a concentrated precursor to Bridgerton’s events. It will not only provide viewers with a greater understanding of the now-Queen in the original series, but it will also provide them with a better understanding of the Regency Era. The spin-off will create a new timeline for the show’s universe because Charlotte is not a character from Julia Quinn’s novels.

Netflix has not revealed the cast yet. However, given that the spin-off will follow the life of young Charlotte, it’s reasonable to presume that the whole ensemble will be new.

Season 2 of the main series is already in the works. Hence, it’s difficult to determine when the spin-off will premiere or even air. The two shows will run independently of one another. In terms of the production crew, the creators have yet to reveal any information on that front. They will inform us as soon as more information is available, said the creators. According to the press statement, Netflix will release the ‘formal title and other details later.

According to many reports, filming on the limited series begins in London in January 2022. However, it is unclear if it will be at Netflix’s Shepperton Studios. The series might arrive in time for Christmas, though a premiere date in 2023 appears more plausible.
